OXIBLOOM
Side table / a research on Brass Patina

The patina technique becomes a visual record of time: color appears, expands, and transforms. This research represents a new visual language for metal sculpture, where colors organically expand like spores blooming on the object's surface.
Oxibloom is a side table crafted from bent and welded brass, undergoing a controlled hot patination process. Layers of acids, applied to the heated metal with a brush and then washed with water to fix the reaction, create its unique surface. Like watercolor, it builds on overlapping brushstrokes, beginning with copper green and adding red to produce spontaneous floral patterns that trace the brush’s path. The outer edges become increasingly saturated while the interior remains more subdued. This interplay balances heat and color, contrasting rigid form with an organic, evolving patina to create a dynamic, living surface.
